Characterization and risk factors of acute diarrheal disease in children under five years old, at Hospital de Cambiote in Huambo

Acute diarrheal diseases are considered a major health problem faced by underdeveloped and developing countries around the world. The objective of this work is to characterize the risk factors for acute diarrheal disease in patients admitted to the Cambiote hospital in Huambo. A descriptive longitudinal and retrospective study was carried out in the period from June to December 2019. The variables investigated were age, sex, type of diarrhea, quasal agent, and complications. The data was obtained from complementary medical records and charge sheets .The sample of this study is made up of 125 patients who were hospitalized with this disease. The predominant sex were male ,the six-month-old group was the one that was most affected with acute diarrheal disease with 21.6, and the most predominant complication was moderate dehydration.
